Reports To: Engineering Manager

SUMMARY:
The R&D Technician supports the new product development team through the construction, testing, modification and validation or prototype systems and components. This hands-on role is a critical component in the expedient development of new products by leveraging a high mechanical aptitude and fundamental understanding of testing methodologies to provide insights and measured metrics to ensure designs meet performance and reliability demands.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Build, assemble and modify prototypes and test fixtures based upon supplied engineering documentation.

• Engage with engineering to troubleshoot designs, assembly process and performance issues.
• Provide support to Engineering on installation practices, cost avoidance and design for serviceability
• Provide excellent customer service to all dealers, customers and staff (on-site and virtually)
• Work effectively with management and other employees to resolve design issues and determine needs of customer
• Maintain and organize R&D equipment, tools and materials.
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

• Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology or proven equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of experience in an R&D or engineering environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic schematics.
• Experience in Marine systems / electrical controls preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and well organized
• A self-starter and able to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Valid Drivers License

Work Environment:
• In this position you will be required to sit, stand, kneel, twist, climb.
• You may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Travel will be required between Floe locations (within 1.5 hours each way)

SUMMARY:

The SR. Mechanical Engineer will utilize developed engineering skills and disciplines to lead the development and validation of mechanical systems, models, drawings and assemblies for the development of new FLOE products.  This role involves hands-on engineering and technical leadership to deliver reliable, innovative and manufacturable designs conforming to desired performance, costs, and industry standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Reinforce and promote all FLOE Core Values in daily interactions with coworkers and customers.
• Lead the design and development initiatives of mechanical systems from the conception to production of Floe products, ranging from boats and powersports to docks, lifts, and trailers.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior design team members.
• Create detailed models and drawings following proper drafting and dimensioning processes, and meeting design specifications.
• Conduct detailed engineering analysis including tolerance stacks, FEA and DFMEA
• Engage with R&D technicians and fabricators to create prototypes for concept validation and functional testing.
• Evaluate Engineering data, under the supervision of Engineering Manager, to ensure successful progression and completion of assignments.
• Responsible for the creation and maintenance of accurate and reliable project data.
• Prepare written reports, professional plans and specifications for product lines or custom applications.
• Interact with Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Personnel to facilitate DFM discussions and complete development phase.
• Work effectively with staff, Supervision, and Management to resolve design issues and determine customer needs.
• Participates in Lean Enterprise continuous improvement efforts.
• Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Engineering Bill of Materials.
• Maintain focus on continuous improvement efforts and research of new materials, equipment and processes to further advance design robustness, product integrity and user experience.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 7+ years of design experience; marine, powersports or similar experience preferred.
• Commanding knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply principles to projects.
• Detailed knowledge of creating and maintaining an Engineering Bill of Materials.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize basic GD&T principles.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD systems, Solidworks preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite. (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• A self-starter and able to complete objectives with minimal supervision.
• A working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Under the direction of the cell leader, you are responsible for carrying out the daily duties of a Boat Assembler, including but not limited to, installation of fiberglass components, purchased interior and exterior components, carpeting, flooring, installing windows, doors, and windshields.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the cell lead or other leadership, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks necessary to laminate or infuse fiberglass components. This includes rolling of resin/fiberglass for a smooth finish, and eliminating air voids, as well as dry sanding to form boat hulls, decks, and other misc components.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assist in spraying and milling of gelcoat in spray booth.
• Assist in spraying of resin and rolling out fiberglass material in spray booth.
• Follow lamination build instructions, set forth by Engineering.
• Select precut fiberglass and core kits assigned to part being vacuum formed.
• Assist in the lay-out of all required material following work instructions given.
• Mixing of catalyst, resin and/or gel coat per manufactures specifications.
• Assist in the vacuum infusion of resin.
• Assist in the monitoring of vacuum pressure, lines, clamps, while infusion of resin is in process.

SUMMARY:

As an Infusionist you will manage all aspect of the vacuum resin infusion of Floe Craft product parts including the materials, equipment, process and procedures for our boats. You will work closely with gel coaters and the open lamination / skin coating team. It is your responsibility to ensure all parts are properly infused to specification, best practices and industry standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Bag all parts, set feed lines, flow media and materials for new parts – exclusively in-mold
• Inspect and test all tooling of decks, hulls, and LRTM small parts, protecting and preserving tools
• Manage and maintain primary and secondary hi/low vacuum pumps
• Inventory and manage all infusion materials, resins, fiberglass, adhesives and tools for performing infusion, order and forecast intelligently and efficiently based on production schedule
• Laminate fiberglass by layers via rollers, brushes and shaping to tool with precision to eliminate voids
• Develop, evolve and continuously improve work instructions
• Work with engineering on glass lamination kit design and modification for ease of manufacturing
• Debag and dispose of consumables and own a clean workspace before during and after infusing
• Troubleshoot, perform leak detection and supervision of infusion process within entire department
• Store and transport chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently to standards
• Promote and foster a safe work environment

Education/Experience:

• Marine manufacturing experience a plus
• Minimum 2 years of experience of resin infusion parts
• Experience troubleshooting, cleaning, monitoring pump system and managing vacuum levels
• Expertise in layup, setup, leak prevention and detection
• Ability to work a 10-hour shift standing, kneeling, climbing
• Comfortable wearing PPE including suit, respiratory, gloves and chemical resistant accessories
• Attention to detail and strives for lamination perfection
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff
• Demonstrated ability to effectively observe, teach, coach and motivate peer infusionists

SUMMARY:

The Fiberglass Tooling & Mold Specialist will work to create and repair fiberglass molds for boats produced by the Floe Craft Division.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Responsible for sanding, buffing, and waxing molds
• Measure and mix correct catalyst ratios of resins
• Fabricate simple to complex tooling
• Use various hand tools to apply and roll out wet fiberglass materials properly without air voids
• Spray tooling gel for mold building
• Keep work area clean and orderly
• Follow all application guidelines and instructions for quality control
• Measure complete dimensional mold-tooling stack-out (static and dynamic) to determine tooling component preloads, clearances, and fits utilizing any available prints
• Determine “best” methods/procedures to determine probable causes of mold/part defects, as well as corrective and preventive actions
• Follow and promote all safety policies and procedures
• Train new or less-skilled employees in proper mold-maintenance techniques and methodology

Education/Experience:

• Must have 2+ years Mold design or building experience
• Must have 2+ years Mold Tooler experience
• Prefer to have some Lamination experience
• Experienced with typical machine-shop equipment
• Can work with little or no supervision required
• Attention to detail

SUMMARY:

The Grind Booth Operator is responsible for, but not limited to, the pulling of fiberglass gelcoat parts from molds and trimming for production boat fitment.  The operator trims and finishes the production of fiberglass solid and metal flake parts.

• Cutting on decks, hulls, liners, and small parts for assembly.
• Grinding, Sanding Polishing of fiberglass parts.
• Gluing and foaming decks and liners.
• Moving parts onto carts, crates, and transport devices, moving in and out of the booth.
• Ability to read and deliver assignments daily from production build sheet on tool cage.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area using hoists, overheads, power, and hand tools, drilling holes, and attaching brackets, propellers, and controls.
• Maintains a safe, clean environment, and cleans and services tools and consumables.
• Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Ability to work alone.
• Understand and adhere to all company safety standards and policies.
